The Women In Finance Network was established specifically for women in the financial services industry. WiFN is a forum where women meet, share experiences, support, learn from and mentor each other. We organise regional events with expert speakers where you get to interact with peers, role models and mentors – and of course, experience the enthusiasm and fun of our hive!

When I entered the financial services industry fifteen years ago, it was a traditionally male-dominated industry which motivated me to establish the Women in Finance Network in 2013.

My goal was to establish a Forum where women planners can meet, share experiences, support, mentor and learn from each other, and create opportunities to meet and interact with peers and role models as mentors and guides. Many of our events today are about learning new skills and having fun while we’re at it!

I am convinced that we can change the industry for the better, and increase our value-add to clients in the process. I believe that we as women have the inherent skills to form meaningful and lasting relationships with clients; we have a wonderful gift to stay authentic and a natural empathy and intuitive approach when connecting with the hearts and minds of our clients.

Zharne Whiteboy is currently completing her Postgraduate Diploma in Financial Planning at Stellenbosch University, and for her, this is more than a career choice. It is work she feels deeply connected to.
Her interest in financial planning grew during the ASISA IFA Internship Programme, where she saw the real difference good advice can make in people’s lives. After completing the internship, she joined Delfin Financial Advisors as a paraplanner, where she continues to build her experience and skills.

What drives Zharne is personal. She understands how financial pressure affects families and how it can impact both parents and children. This has given her a clear sense of purpose. While financial education cannot remove every challenge, she believes it can reduce unnecessary stress, protect dignity, and help people move forward with greater confidence.

Her goal is to help people align their money with their goals, protect their futures, and make decisions that support the life they want to live.
For Zharne, the Women in Finance Network Bursary is more than support for her studies. It is an opportunity to give back, to turn her experiences into something meaningful, and to encourage other young women to see a future for themselves in financial planning.
