Welcome
to Women in Finance Network
About Us
The Women In Finance Network was established specifically for women in the financial services industry. WiFN is a forum where women meet, share experiences, support, learn from and mentor each other. We organise regional events with expert speakers where you get to interact with peers, role models and mentors – and of course, experience the enthusiasm and fun of our hive!
We are more than members – we are a community! Join our WiFN Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram pages to follow posts by experts sharing snippets on a range of relevant, contentious and often inspirational topics, and access our web-community of women who are always ready to assist and support.
The Network is not affiliated to any particular company – just bring along your own wisdom and uniqueness!

Message from our Founder, Kim Potgieter
When I entered the financial services industry fifteen years ago, it was a traditionally male-dominated industry which motivated me to establish the Women in Finance Network in 2013.
My goal was to establish a Forum where women planners can meet, share experiences, support, mentor and learn from each other, and create opportunities to meet and interact with peers and role models as mentors and guides. Many of our events today are about learning new skills and having fun while we’re at it!
I am convinced that we can change the industry for the better, and increase our value-add to clients in the process. I believe that we as women have the inherent skills to form meaningful and lasting relationships with clients; we have a wonderful gift to stay authentic and a natural empathy and intuitive approach when connecting with the hearts and minds of our clients.
By joining the WiFN, you will receive invitations to our many events and have access to our online community of women who are always ready to help and support. You can look forward to interesting articles and blogs written by our members, and our Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram pages are always filled with inspiration.
We look forward to welcoming you into our hive!
“I truly believe that we as women can make a difference – we serve and connect with clients in a unique way.”
Meet WIFN bursary candidate 2024
Karabo Huma
Meet Karabo Huma, a remarkable young woman with a passion for finance and a heart for her community. Born and raised in Soshanguve, a township in Pretoria, Karabo is the first of three siblings and the daughter of an incredible single parent who instilled in her the values of hard work and dedication.
Currently pursuing her honours degree in Financial Planning, she has already achieved recognition by representing the University of Johannesburg (UJ) at the FPI Case Study Challenge in 2023, where her team emerged victorious.
But Karabo’s ambitions extend far beyond the classroom. Driven to empower others, she actively volunteers with a non-profit organisation called “Keep That Gold Shinning,” where she mentors high school learners by providing them with critical mathematics lessons. Additionally, she has established her own NPO, “Feed a Friend,” which aims to alleviate hunger and homelessness through food drives and, ultimately, the creation of shelters.
We look forward to supporting her journey as she inspires future generations of females in the financial industry.
